A "from the below" concept of the Olympic Truce, meaning not just the
breaking of conflicts during the period of the Games, but above all an
occasion to promote peace values and human rights development.

"Supporting Children's Rights trough Education, the Arts and the
Media" is an international project of the International Programme for
the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) of the International Labour
Organisation (ILO). SCREAM is an educational project of social
mobilization that acknowledges the value of young students as
promoters for change in their society, making people aware of the
Child Labour problem through their creativity and artistic
expressions. .PeaceWaves, as a partner of the project, is actively
involved in the areas of training, sport and art as tools for peace
and social justice, cooperation, Human Rights promotion. |

PeaceWaves
intend to realize the first female school of music in the Artistic
University of Kabul, to improve the role of the woman in the afghan
society and reopen a field obstructed for a long time.

PeaceWaves, together with the Turin Province public administration,
organize since April 2002 the Team Leaders Courses.
These courses, are organized looking to the 2006 Olympic games that
will be held in Turin and that will need the help of many volunteers
(almost 20.000) coming from all the parts of Italy and with different
backgrounds and skills. The Team Leaders courses aim to enhance the
life skills connected to interpersonal communication, peaceful and
creative conflicts resolution, leadership, team-building, etc...
to be protagonists in realization of events in the territory of Turin
and province. Team Leaders will become olympic-peace ambassadors, and
could belong to delegation engaged in important international events.

Young
Europeans give Europe a face during EWD2004!
25 young Europeans met from July 18th to July 29th at Højskolen
Østersøen for East-West Dialogue 2004.
PeaceWaves were present both as participant and as a partner,
represented by two of its coordinators: Manuela Pozzoli participated
to all the 12 days of activities, Vittorio Pennazio guided the group
which as the aim of realizing a youth2youth website.

The
5th Assembly of Peoples' UN was held in Perugia, Italy from October 9th to 12th 2003: a unique meeting of the world civil society engaged in promoting the globalization of
Human Rights and building a “different” world free from war, poverty and
oppression.
More than 200 representatives of the world civil society, local institutions, parliaments and international institutions from more than 100 countries
were invited to an important hearing on Europe and its role in the world.
